Morning all,
I though fellow FISH folk might be intereted to see this article in
Scientific American (available on-line), passed on from another mailing
list. Tim Berners-Lee, as many of you will know, is the chap who came up
with the idea of the World Wide Web, and also is involved with the World
Wide Web Consortium (a sort of mother-of-all standards setting bodies) so
his views expressed in this journal are likely to be influential.
I haven't has a chance to look at it in detail yet, but the sort of issues
involved in development of a thesaurus parallel closely the issues of the
representation of 'knowledge' it is generic sense. (A 'thesaurus' means
literally a 'treasure house of knowledge')
