Dear all,
Happy New Year!
List members can now see the minutes of the last meeting of FISHEN (November
2000), at which 'FISH' formally came into being, the timelines thesaurus was
discussed, work on a new thesaurus from English Heritage covering monument
'Components' was presented, plans were set up for a new edition of MIDAS
etc. You can view them online by going to
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/files/FISH/Nov2000Minutes.rtf
Alternatively you can have the file sent to you as an attachment to an email
by sending the following command as the only text of a message to

There is an ambitious programme of work for the new fully national forum,
and all list members are invited to discuss on the list any issues touched
upon in these minutes. A first priority is to expand our 'attending'
membership - ie people who can commit to attending two face-to-face meetings
per year - to properly represent the whole British Isles. It could be you...
Our experiment with video-conferencing, to reduce the cost of face-to-face
meetings was not very successful due to a fault with the Government
Telephone Network. However, the majority of those involved saw enough to be
willing to try it again. I'm trying now to track down contact details of
video-conferencing bureaux across the U.K. that we might be able to network
to.
Best wishes,
Edmund Lee
