Afternoon everyone,
As an expectant hush falls on our virtual conference room, now seems an
appropriate moment to remind everyone of the facilities that we have here.
JISCmail, our hosts for this e-conference, allow us to recreate in
cyberspace many of activities of a conventional conference. Please feel free
to make full use of these facilities. If you are not familiar with what you
can do - here's a reminder. Just make sure you use the right email address
and it will all be fine:-
*To look around and see who is here send the following as the only text of a
message to [log in to unmask]
review fish
--
*To stand up and ask a question, make a point or ask for clarification just
send an email to the list address:-
[log in to unmask]
This will be heard by everyone who is here. In common with most email
discussion, I suggest that, unless otherwise stated, emails to the list are
treated as the opinions of the sender only, not their employer.
Please don't send attachments with your email. If you would like to submit a
long paper or graphics etc, contact the conference organisers.
If you want to reply to a long email, its best to delete most of the
original email from your reply.
*If it all gets too much and you want to step outside for a while, send the
following as the only text of a message to [log in to unmask]
set fish digest
--
...this will mean that you only get one email message a day reporting all
the messages sent that day. You can go back in by sending the following:
set fish nodigest
--
*To contact the conference organisers send a message (with attachments if
you wish) to
[log in to unmask]
*And remember: to have a chat with someone in the bar afterwards make sure
you send your message just to their individual email address, not to the
list address - otherwise everyone will overhear... Remember that just
pressing 'reply' will automatically direct it to the whole list.
Whatever you do, do take part.
