Forgive me if the title has already been mentioned, (I've been
offline & deleted an excess of e-mails on my return) but Protazanov's
Aelita (1924) is one of the best I know to deal with utopia/dystopia,
especially in the Martian sequences, but also in the detail of
everyday life in the early years of 'actually existing' utopia
(Moscow, immediately after the era of the Civil War & 'War
Communism').
