Target audience
DEA members and others with an interest in increasing their understanding of how to promote the global perspective in Higher Education
Context
Higher education remains an important focus for DEA members. This event provides further opportunities to develop our strategy and strengthen HE and NGO partnerships to forward our goal to promote global perspectives within Higher Education Institutions.
Aims
To consider
? Higher Education's contribution to developing active global citizens
? how global perspectives in Higher Education institutions are contributing to the development of active global citizens
? how students are meeting the challenge of active global citizenship
Learning Outcomes
Participants will start to develop an understanding of
? the importance of HE to developing active global citizens
? the ways that HE can contribute to developing active global citizens

A network of university-based student groups who promote awareness of refugee issues and support refugees in the local and international community.
People and Planet
A student network campaigning to end world poverty, defend human rights and protect the planet.
World University Service
A charity working for the relief of poverty and advancement of education both overseas (international division) and with refugees in the UK (KETAS: refugee education and training advisory service).
Vetaid
Main activities include work with HE students to increase understanding of global interdependence in the area of agriculture and development.
