Dear Colleagues,
'SUSTAINABLE EDUCATION - RE-VISIONING LEARNING AND CHANGE'
'Innovative and essential reading for all those concerned about the
state
of the planet and the purposes of education' - Professor David Hicks,
Bath
Spa University College, UK
I am pleased to announce the publication of my new book 'Sustainable
Education' which is just published by Green Books and the Schumacher
Society in the UK, as the latest title in their 'Briefings' series on
aspects of sustainability. The Briefings are produced as short and
low-priced readers for practitioners, students and policy-makers and are
intended to stimulate debate and help change practice.
This concise book critiques the prevailing managerial approach in
education, and argues for a change of educational culture towards a more
inclusive and ecological view if we are to learn our way towards a more
sustainable future - and given the lack of significant progress since
the
1992 Earth Summit.
A press release and order form are attached. Please contact the
publishers
for orders or review copies, and myself with any correspondence or
comments.
I hope it will be of interest, and would much appreciate any publicity
you
might be able to give the book.
With thanks,
Stephen Sterling
Note: in North America, the book is distributed by Chelsea Green
