Adding further layers of bureaucracy (especially at EU level) simply
will not help us here and could result in a 'backlash' from industry
which would be unproductive and inhibitory of the process of
collaboration and co-operation based on good science I am trying
to promote.
Underneath the layers of lawyers, administrators and officials
running this Institute will be us - the scientists and clinicians that
have to understand and deal with these problems every day, and
who will be required to provide advice to the lawyers, adminstrators
and officials for them to act on!
Let's develop something really useful for us (all concerned with the
quality of laboratory medicine services), and which industry will feel
happy to embrace and collaborate with. We are all in this together.
