Thanks for your reply Trevor. Most Australian OHS standards for urine
tests are in umol metal/mmol creatinine. There is no specific standard for
tetraethyllead hence my resort to Baselt. I would like to convert the
limit cited by Baselt (0.11 mg/L total lead in urine corrected to a
specific gravity of 1.024) to umol total lead/mmol creatinine in urine. An
SG of 1.024 is approximately equivalent to an osmolality of 960 mmol/kg
(Documenta Geigy) which is fairly concentrated urine. My guess is that
this is approximately equivalent to a urinary creatinine of 12 to 15
mmol/L. If I can find some authoritative conversion factor I can express
the results in the more standard units. I am not quite there yet!
