It was my understanding that lipid levels could be measured within 24 hours of an MI. Thereafter changes in diet and fluid balance exerted their effects.

The acute phase response to injury is assumed to play a large
part. The Joint British recommendation for the prevention of CHD
recommends a minimum of 6 weeks before repeat lipid evaluation.

Does anyone know the mechanism for the reduction in serum cholesterol after
an MI? and any evidence as to how long it takes to resume the pre-MI
cholesterol level (assuming no action is taken to lower cholesterol)
