Andy, for cats, try the following:
Kirk, J.C. 1935. 'Wild and domestic cat compared', Scottish Naturalist,
161-9. Includes skull and mandible measurements.
Pocock, R.I. 1935. 'The races of the European Wild Cat', Journal of the
Linnaean Society (Zoology) XXXIX, 1-14. More skull, jaw, and tooth
measurements.
Kratochvil, Z. 1976. 'Das Postkranialskelett der Wild- und
Hauskatze...', Acta Scientiarium Naturalium Brno 10(6), 1-43. Means,
ranges, variance for males and females, wild and domestic.
Kratochvil, Z. 1973. 'Schadelkritierien der Wild- und Hauskatze....',
Acta Scientiarium Naturalium Brno 7(10), 1-50. Has morphological and
metrical characters.
And a warning about sex dimorphism:
Kratochvil, Z. 1976. 'Sex dimorphism of the domestic cat ... on the
skull and on the mandible', Acta Veterinarium Brno 45, 159-67. This
paper demonstrates that differences in male and female morphology
observed in wild cat cannot be assumed to apply to domestic cat, and
vice versa.
Dogs and ferrets are a matter for someone else.
