This, sadly, is all too common. Lots of things influence the successful
implementation of a VLE. I would consider that an important factor is
involving the teaching staff (and other staff) in the evaluation process,
before purchase. Not to do that is asking for trouble. We have a case study
from Nav Chohan, at Leeds College of Technology, which supports this point.
It's at:
http://ferl.becta.org.uk/features/mle/casestudyLeeds.htm
As a slightly separate issue, when I was writing this email, I noticed that
the navigation links in the older case studies on the site, those dated
2000, take you back to the old MLE feature, which pre-dates the focus area,
and which is very out of date, and not to be relied on. So when looking at
the case studies, use the back button on your browser to return to the
current VLE feature, not any navigation found at the bottom of the case
studies. We'll get this slight bug fixed very soon.
