Summary
The seminar addresses issues, solution methods, simulation results, and a
case study related to dynamic traffic assignment (DTA) and route guidance
(RG) in road networks. After a short introduction, modelling needs arising
from DTA and RG are discussed with particular attention paid to
macroscopic approaches and the use of splitting rates by destination at
bifurcations. Two distinct solution methodologies, iterative and one-shot
(feedback), are outlined with particular focus on feedback approaches.
Simulation results for two distinct hypothetical networks are aimed to
illustrate the presented approaches. A real implementation case study for
the city of Aalborg (Denmark) demonstrates the practical relevance of the
feedback approach
