As per Anthony's suggestion, I looked for hairline cracks. Couldnt see
any, or a dry joint with a magnifying glass; but I resoldered the
connections and it
seems to have fixed the problem.
Famous last words? We shall see.
Again, I was deeply impressed by NeXT engineering: seven screws to hold the
keyboard together and two inside to hold the mouse connector, which is also
held by plastic bumps and sticky tape. It's hard to imagine that this
keyboard would come apart on its own.
Now that I can spell "float, else and double" maybe my apps will compile
first time (fat chance)!
