Dear Colleagues
In this department (Education) the superviser marks the dissertation,
and a second internal marker marks without seeing the comments of the
first. In cases of disagreement which the markers fail to resolve, a
third internal marker may be called upon, or the external. All
disputed dissertations would go to the external anyway, plus a sample
of all grades/borderlines.
MPhil degrees follow the same pattern as PhDs ie one internal marker
who is not the adviser, and an external.
