Dear M,
I appreciate your constructive assertion at the base
of this e-mail,
But please i thought the function of academia in any
sense is to feed those with a need to learn.
I am an undergraduate film-maker with an overwhelming
enthusiasm for film-studies, and many on this webring
have inspired me to continue my studies, which at
times I fear are too large for me to truly understand.
I make the best of what I know at this point--making
use of what I know, in the end the only reason for
having the knowledge in the first place in my mind. My
ideas may sometimes be misplaced or oriented obtusely
but I have a desire to learn and NOT set myself above
those on different rung of this philosophical ladder.
If a by product of investing my heart and soul in
gaining undertanding is to become (1) A source of
'musings' in my learning curve and (2) A
pseudo-intellectual barricade when I am at your level,
i'd rather not bother thankyou,
Elitism for me is the loudest ignorance,
David
Thankyou to those who seek to help me without
cattyness :)
