Would like to thank DNA films Steve Coogen et al, for reviving the British
comedy. It has to be the best film of the year without a doubt. Simple,
unpretentious escapism. This is how I remember films should be, of course some
films serve to make one think but thank god for those that dont, though I'm
sure a deconstruction of such would prove highly enlightening. From location
discourse, through costume, and region we have found a comic genius that will
hopefully make people laugh throughout the globe.
At last we have a comedy/film which sends itself and its society into the
ridiculous. And on a far more controversial note at last a film which has the
main antagonist as a Southerner. Sick of seeing either feel sorry for him
films (Billy Elliot) or Northern Scum portrayals though must admit this is
more TV than film, anyway this film is more than that. It borrows from the
Ealing comedies, the new breed of American, and Coogens own brand of wit to
justly overthrow any queries regarding the implausability of it all, you know
it cant happen which is part of its charm. What do the Scholers say? Is it
brain dead or do we have a higher breed of inteligence at work, though plainly
not from me... I was talking about the film.
Looking forward to your views...
