Ketones cause a "classic" interference with the Jaffe reactions. If the
infant consumed a small amount of methanol, it might be possible that
the methanol-fluid also contained isopropanol (which metabolizes to
acetone), acetone or another ketone. That would be my 'best guess'.
Alternate interferences may include drugs (eg. cephalosporins) that may
cause a transient interference with Jaffe- creatinine.
