Regarding communication of urgent or critical results, the National
Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC, Australia) has indicated
the need for joint responsibility between the pathology service and the
medical practice. We must commnuicate the result, and they must be able to
receive it, and these procedures should be documented and audited.
This is held in the document: Guidelines for Data Communication, an acrobat
file held at the following website. (It is 20 pages long but there is big
writing and lots of white space so there is not too much text).

The section on Definition of resposibilitites and boundaries covers this
area.
