Dear Bruce,
At SydPath we use 5.5 mmol/L for the upper reference limit on the grounds
that the Department of Health and Aged Care as part of its (not
particularly well publicised) Defuse Diabetes campaign, recommended that
fasting glucose values above this limit should be investigated with a GTT.
This limit was chosen after discussion with our diabetologists.
I know Ken Sikaris has presented excellent data on age related intervals
for fasting glucose.
Regards,
Graham
