Hi Megan,
There are a few fish dishes here associated with Peter, for obvious reasons,
but the only true thing I can see that he ate came from an anecdote which is
rather amusing:
Peter, Paul, John and Jesus go fishing...
"At the end of the glorious day, he (Jesus) spit roasted a lamb, cut it into
pieces and then noticed that the heart, liver, and lungs--the 'pluck', or
coratell, the most prized part of the beast--were missing. Jesus asked who
had stolen them. Nobody answered, not even Peter, who they all knew was
occasionally untruthful. Christ then handed out four of the five portions he
had cut. Gluttonous Peter asked who the fifth pice was for. The Son of God
answered with a smile: 'it is for the man who stile the pluck.' He forgave
Peter and the day came to a happy conclusion."
There are also recipies for Abbot's Snails, Cardinal's Pears, Council Eggs,
Monsignor's Poached Eggs, Papal Salami, Pilgrim's Meatballs, A Warming
Pontifical Soup, and Episcopal Soup, along with the favorite dishes and
food-related stories of popes.
There's even a section of Pope Joan's favorite foods and recipies. I kid you
not.
Wendy
