Dear all,
I wanted to make you aware of a nice pair of editorials, in the
Journal of Family Practice (www.jfponline.com), regarding critical appraisal
of the literature. It is a look at the dissemination of the Lancet article
"Is screening mammography justifiable", and one editorial makes some
interesting statements about "excessive critical appraisal". There is a
response from Slawson and Shaughnessy, who edit the the JFP POEMs series.
Both articles point out the state of EBM, (adolesence, I believe-often
useful, but getting what you want out of it is not always easy), and
limitations and future directions.
As for Kevin, let him be. Anyone who looks at these sites and their
versions of truth, can see the flaws in this apparent deconstruction.
Better to be aware, than not.
