IMHO the Dorothy L Sayers translation is still the most elegant - I'm not
sure if it's still available, but it was published by Penguin Books
(Amazon.co.uk?). You could get the Dore engravings separately (they used to
be published by Dover Books), and you would also want the soundtrack: the
amazing tableaux by Franz Liszt, the 'Dante Symphony' (wonderful rendering of
the 'lasciate ogni sperenza' thing in brass! - the devil, as usual, has _all_
the best tunes).
