Hi, all:
A few years ago I bought a Rand MacNally globe that had both
topography and bathymmetry, although not in the best of
shadings. I think it is still available. It was good
enough to put plate boundaries on, however. I then added
hot spots and rotation pole pairs, which is what I imagine
Peter and company wish to do. It 's a great teching tool
for plate tectonics. Its a pity that AGU. EGU GSA or GSL
haven't thought about putting out a tectonic globe. So many
things about plate tectonics are clearer when plotted on a
globe.
The best physical globe I ever saw was the National
Geograpbic one, that pretty much the Heezen/Tharp map for
the oceans. It was a little dark for painting on plate
boundaries Unfortunately, I don't think it is available any
more - the market is for the political globes.

those of us that work for the state of Florida, this is all
very normal)
