Dear Colleagues, we, as Epidemiology Unit of a Local Health Authority,
based in Italy, are searching for
Partnerships in Proposals concerning the specific programmes implementing
the Fifth Framework Programme of the European Community.
Preferentially our partners should be based in UK, EIRE, Holland or in an
Eastern Europe Country.
We are preparing a formal proposal for next call, which will probably have
a deadline in 2001, late february.
The research project will be structured as "accompanying measures" type
(see http://www.cordis.lu/fp5/src/news4.htm and other pages of the
official site for further informations).
The research area is, in broad sense, molecular epidemiology.
We're addressing two main research sub-areas:
1. Links (ie descriptive association and/or causal relationship, if
existing) between environmental pollutants and human DNA damages
2. Links between "health damages" (mainly about prevalence/incidence of
some type of cancers and of congenital anomalies near hazardous waste
landfil sites).
We are looking for a "Health Authority" partner, whose area could be
somehow comparable to our province of Bergamo as statistical dimensions and
possibly public health problems (North Italy, 1 million inhabitants; the
land is equally divided between high industrial and urbanized areas and
wild mountains; relatively high standardized death rates for many
oncological diseases, unknown rates of congenital anomalies -only
estimates-).
If interested, please send your proposal directly to the e-mail address
below, not to the list; you'll be directly contacted to receive further
details.
Thanks for your attention.
