Marshall Grossman asked:-
>Puttenham (another of Marlowe's
>aliases?)
The book ascribed to Puttenham was published without an
author's name on it. Both George and Richard Puttenham
had been in trouble, however, as had the owners of most of
the names used by Marlowe. Put that down to his sense of
humour. It has never been proved which Puttenham was
supposed to have written "Puttenham's book" but, from my
reading of it and the circumstances under which it was
published, I believe that it can only have been written by
Marlowe.
