Your memory seems very supple, actually, but on further outings,
given your interests, you might be glad to have along a copy of
Nikolaus Pevsner's Yorkshire: The North Riding, in his Buildings of
England series. He not only helps to explain many of the sorts of
things you noticed, but also has marvellously complete descriptions
of medieval churches, plus all their furnishings. On you next trip
to St Andrew in Middleton, for example, you might look for the
15th-century misericord!
