Subject: Topical index of saints
I am a recent subscriber, so if my question treads upon overly familiar
ground to veterans, I apologize in advance. Maddy Gray's message of 18
October (subject: "saintly pettiness") mentioned that the Welsh saint Cadoc
punished a disciple who had lost a book of his. Carolyn Muessig's message
of 24 October (subject: "FEAST 24 Ocotber [sic]") mentioned that Felix of
Thibiuca was martyred for refusing to give up books. This fortuitous
juxtaposition suggested not only a bit of fanciful speculation (imagine the
fracas had Cadoc sought to recover a book from Felix<G>), but also the
question which prompted this message: to anyone's knowledge, have there
been any efforts to compile a *topical* index of saints, along the lines of
a concordance? With such a compilation one could, for example, look under
the topic "book" and find listed our friends Cadoc and Felix, along with
any other saints whose lives include significant events involving books.
