Dear Colleagues,
I have two books available to good homes in exchange for 350-word reviews
for the EIA's journal, 'European Information'. They are:
1 - Law of the European Union (Jo Shaw, 2000, 3rd edition, c660pp, £14.99).
According to the cover: 'It places EU law in its context, examining its
relationship with the national legal systems and national constitutions, as
well as the role of the EU within a wider global order.
New topics discussed include:
- the Treaty of Amsterdam - fully updated in all areas of coverage
- the 2000 Intergovernmental Conference
- the Convention drafting a Fundamental Rights Charter for the EU
- the resignation of the Commission in March 1999 and the programme for
reforming the Commission
- values and principles in the EU constitutional framework.'
2 - The External Economic Dimension of the European Union (Pitou van Dijck,
Gerrit Faber eds, 2000, Kluwer Law International, c420pp, NLG 175, c£47,
cEUR 79).
The cover states that it 'focuses on the broad range of recent initiatives
taken by the EU to reinforce its common external economic policy in a
rapidly changing environment' and that it 'is a timely and essential work
that will reward the attention of policymakers and interested academics
throughout the world.' Part 1 - General topics; Part 2 - Regional
dimensions.
Anyone interested in reviewing them, please contact me as soon as possible.
Deadline for reviews is 4 December.
Regards,
Eric
