The Electronic Grosseteste (http://www.grosseteste.com/)
At the risk of sounding like a public relations officer, I am
announcing updates to the FREE ACCESS web-site, The
Electronic Grosseteste. The site now contains all of Grosseteste’s
Philosophical Works (printed in the Baur Edition), his Letters, and
the first 50 of his Dicta (transcribed by Joseph Goering). There are
also research resources which would be of use to those who work
in medieval theology, philosophy, history of science and church
history—including a searchable bibliographical database. Users
may also download zipped copies of the public domain texts
(registration is required—but that information remains private). All
public texts are searchable (the current search engine is not very
elegant, and I hope to improve it soon).
I apologise in advance for the slow loading of the title page, but I
had to follow certain guidelines imposed by the copyright owner of
the image.
In the next two years, the Editorial committee plans to mount XML
versions of Grosseteste’s Commentary on the Posterior Analytics,
Commentary on the Physics and the Templum Dei. We are in
negotiations to secure the right to provide XML versions of smaller
works published in scholarly journals over the last forty or so years.
These texts will be searchable, but could not be downloaded by
users, nor viewed in toto in a web brower.
I hope you will find the site of interest and use. Feel free to fire of
to me any criticisms or suggestions for improvement. If you have
any texts or articles you would like to include, please contact the
Project Director ([log in to unmask]).
