Fratres karissimi, sisters
The terrible burning desert heat has kept me indoors by my scanner. This
means that, earlier than I had anticipated (my apologies!), Cassiodorus'
_Variae_ book 2 is now available for all to fan themselves with, at:

At this rate I may well have the whole lot done by Ramadan.
BTW, those with teenagers at home who play those electronic guitars (the
teenagers, I mean) may wish to pay particular attention to the final two
sections of this private correspondence to Mr Theodericus -- it will
doubtless strike a chord! (never heard of anyone being thrown off a list
for atrocious puns: may I be the first?)
A question springs to mind though, at this point. We have also the _CCL_
text by Fridh. I only have managed a quick glance at this and, while
there appears to be more and a better critical apparatus, have esteemed
list-members found particularly significant textual variance? I imagine
that this newer text is in some ways 'better', but can anyone give me a
quick-and-dirty reason as to why it might be so?
The summer gone, I find myself away from libraries that have the sort of
text I like to read.
Yours
