Dear all,
I have just been complaining to Mailbase about real
spamming on other lists. However, it is fairly common
to have relevant course announcements on Mailbase lists,
and this posting comes from a list member, is not
commercial, and has a clear subject line enabling you
to ignore it if it doesn't interest you, so I wouldn't
regard it as spamming.
I would encourage the listowner to set the Mailbase
options to Mailin: Off (so non-members cannot send
messages to the list) and Review: Off (so non-members
cannot obtain the e-mail addresses of members). Also,
I think messages to lists should be kept fairly short,
with an e-mail or web page address for obtaining
things like course details.
Anne Scott.
