Dear Members of the list
I have just had a vacation in the Chamonix Mt Blanc area of France where I
saw some fantastic strained Xenoliths.
They were seen in the area around the Couvercle refuge and are notable for a
number of reasons.
All seen showed the following:
- Approximate 1:10 aspect ratio.
- Consistent orientation.
- The long axis is aligned parallel to the really nicely developed S fabric
- Little or no alteration halo.
In the region there are unstrained xenoliths which show a relatively
consistent sizes and ranges of emplacement orientations.
Does anyone know of any calculations of the strain implied by these
xenoliths.
Thanks
Titus
