CALL FOR PAPERS…CALL FOR PAPERS…CALL FOR PAPERS…CALL FOR PAPERS
INAUGURAL INTERNATIONAL MEDIA CONFERENCE
Global Village or Global Image?
Representing Diversity and Difference
24-27 July 2001, London, UK.
In recent years there has been a growth in the diversity of media
technologies and representations that shape, and have been shaped by
cultural identities. Increasingly, we are faced with the notion that these
images are part of a process of globalisation, but to what extent are
different people, places and political viewpoints linked together? Who is
being excluded from these representations? Are we moving towards a global
village or simply a global image? Including the participation of
internationally recognised plenary speakers, this conference offers a
unique forum for addressing the above questions and to encourage
discussions examining cultural diversity and media between academics, film
makers, programmers, institutions, policy makers, and the wider community.
Key themes listed below will be used as a framework for the conference,
but papers addressing a broad range of issues are very welcome:
