Lazarus Saturday is an important feast in the Orthodox Churches and is
observed on the Saturday before Palm Sunday. It contains some of the
anticipated joy of Christ's Resurrection joy which will flood the Church
at Easter a week later . It also stands, as a resurrectional feast, in
marked contrast to all the other Saturdays of the year which in the East
are given over to memorials for the dead (not to the Virgin Mary as in
the Latin West.)
I could probably locate the entire Service (All-Night Vigil and Liturgy)
somewhere online if you are interested.
Here is the Troparion (Collect) of Lazarus Saturday:
"Giving us a pledge of the resurrection of all before Thy Passion, O
Christ our God, Thou didst raise Lazarus from the dead. And so like the
children we too carry symbols of victory and cry out to Thee, the
Conqueror of death: Hosanna in the Highest! Blessed is He that comes in
the Name of the Lord." (Tone 1)
Fr Ambrose
