Apologies for cross-posting.
I am at present investigating a book, part of whose title is "Delle
scoprimento dell'isole Frislanda, Eslanda, Engrouelanda, Estotilanda, &
Icaria, fatto sotto il Polo Artico, da due fratelli Zeni, M. Nicolo ... e M.
Antonio (for those interested the imprint is In Venetia : Per Francesco
Marcolini, M D LVIII [1558].)
I am prepared to believe that Eslanda and Engrouelanda are stabs at Iceland
and Greenland, but I remember a discussion on the non-existence of Frisland
quite recently, and would be interested to hear what anyone thinks of
Estotiland and Icaria. I haven't the usual reference works to hand.
Regards
Jane
