As I reread the message from Luciana,I realized that Boyle was the author of
the English text, not necessarily of the French version. Apologies to Boyle if
he did not translate his own material into French and especially if I've mixed
his name with someone else's.
Here is my translation of the French without reference to Boyle's original:
It is almost certain that Albert's commentary on "De caelesti hierarchia" dates
from the years 1245-48 when he and the young Thomas were both at the Studium
generale of Saint James in Paris. For most students who have worked on this
period of Albert's and Thomas' lives, this Naples autograph, which comes from
the Salerno fragment, is the textual source, the direct or indirect archetype
of all copies of the mss. of Albert's commentary, which the publishers/editors
of the recent critical edition of Cologne consider to be authentic.
I hope this helps a bit with Luciana's series of questions.
Best,
Kathryn
