Dear members
We are currently considering evidence-based mechanisms to facilitate the
adoption of cost-effective health promotion and disease prevention strategies.
And would like to do this in a way that reduces cost pressures in other parts of
the health system and improves health or reduces inequalities.
What we would like to do is COMBINE the following:
- studies of avoidable mortality and morbidity
- studies of the burden of disease and
- estimate of the total health system cost attributable to defined diseases.
Any pointers to methodologies that combine these studies that people know about
(developed or developing) would be most appreciated.
Our aim is to identify broad areas of interest from the above methodology, do
further detailed work on interventions and then seek additional funding for
population health activities that are cost-effective and improve health.
(I recognise this is a very brief description but gives the essence of the
proposed directions)
thanks
