email bulletin from the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) programme. I
enclose the first bulletin as a sample. If you wish to receive regular

NCCHTA at the ISTAHC Conference.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
NCCHTA will be on stand 1 at the ISTAHC conference at the Hague (19th - 21st
June 2000). The latest monographs will be on display plus executive
summaries of most HTA monographs, copies of the latest HTA'Update' and
on-line access to the HTA web site. For further details of the ISTAHC

66 monographs have now been published since the start of the programme.

2) How to obtain HTA monographs
-------------------------------------------
The HTA web site (http://www.ncchta.org) allows access to
monographs on the Publications Page as follows:
- executive summaries of monographs can be viewed and printed
- free printed copies of full monographs can be ordered electronically
from the page (Please note that this service is only available within the
United Kingdom
for staff working in the public sector, including non-commercial charities).
For those who are not eligible for a free copy the cost is 50 pounds per
monograph plus 2 pounds postage and packing.
- electronic versions of the full monograph in Adobe 'Acrobat' version 3 can
be downloaded and/or viewed directly depending on how your web browser has
been configured to use the Adobe Acrobat reader. The Acrobat reader is free
of charge and can be downloaded from:
http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html
You can also fax your request to the HTA offices on 023 8059 5639 stating
clearly the Volume and issue number(s) and whether you require an executive
summary or the full printed version.
In addition you can obtain executive summaries of HTA monographs (vol 4
onwards) using our faxback service (up to 4 documents per call). To use this
service dial 023 8059 5596 and follow the voice instructions keying in the
document code and your fax number when prompted. A complete list of
documents is available on on document code 5000.
3) Forthcoming HTA monographs

The following monographs are expected within the next 4 weeks:

4) How to reserve a copy of a forthcoming monograph

6) About Health Technology Assessment and this bulletin

a) About the HTA programme
The HTA programme is a national programme of research established and funded
by the Department of Health's Research and Development programme.
The HTA programme actively seeks out the questions which meet the NHS's
research needs, commissions research to meet those needs, and communicates
the findings to the NHS and its users.
The National Coordinating Centre for Health Technology Assessment (NCCHTA)
coordinates the HTA programme under contract from the NHS Executive R&D
Directorate.
For more details about the HTA programme and how you can participate please
fax the NCCHTA for a copy of the 1999 HTA Annual Report or visit the HTA web
site.
