Green Commuter Plan
Oxford Brookes has developed a Green Commuter Plan (GCP) which seeks to
reduce the use of the private car and to encourage more sustainable
alternatives, including public transport, cycling and walking. This is
available on the Web at:
http://www.brookes.ac.uk/services/environment/greenplan/
The document outlines the research and thinking behind the plan, the steps
they are already taking to implement it, and those they intend to take over
the next few years. Along the way they will work in partnership with the
local authorities, local community, transport providers and other major
employers in Headington and the City.
Key objectives of the GCP include, to:
· Maximise opportunities for staff and students to travel to the University
using transport modes other than private car;
· Discourage use of private cars where reasonable alternatives exist;
· Be complementary to the efficient operation of the University;
· Be acceptable to relevant parties;
· Be self funding; and
· Be ongoing and adaptive.
