Acid-base homeostasis is so effective that CO2 is usually LOW. Even a
modest rise in acid will drive respirations to lower CO2 levels.

Ketones (apparently hydroxy-butyrate in particular) are emetogenic.
Ketones are a by-product of fatty acid metabolism.

? direct effect of acidosis on GI tract (don't know).
Don't forget also that vomiting (e.g. due to gastroenteritis) can CAUSE
diabetic ketoacidosis as well as be the RESULT of DKA.
