Funny that Carol Kaske should mention Judith Anderson's advice, because I
followed advice of hers elsewhere reported this year and taught Book 3
rather than Book 1 in the "Beowulf to Burns" class. It was the first time
I tried Bk 3 in this course and things seemed to go better than usual.
Several students of very ordinary ability (as far as I can determine)
followed the narrative details minutely.
