one exercise i like to use is to have the patient standing with their back
to the wall and a piece of surgical tubing fixed above their head.
they hold onto the piece of tubing in their hand with the tubing behind the
shoulder and then depress the scapula.
this works great for both scapular and humeral depression as a start
exercise.
just a coulple of things do not let the person bend their elbow (inform them
if they bend the elbow you will keep it straight with a board and rusty
screws)
also make sure they have proper scapular posture and they don't start to
protract....
