Dear Netta, I assume your patient group have a diagnosis of cerebral palsy?
I can't answer your question from a research base, but clinically, I have
found that muscle bulk can be increased with specific training despite the
presence of spasticity in multiple sclerosis and post stroke. How this
happens from a physiology point of view, I don't know - can any one from the
list shed any light on this?
On a related matter, can anyone suggest what happens to spasticity long term
post stroke - it seems to gradually diminish, either as good movement
returns or as contractures become established. I mean from a muscle
physiology rather than a neuroplasticity perspective.
Any thoughts would be welcome
Debbie.
