I should think the question might be better put: 'are medievalists today
sufficiently informed to know its significance?' If not, then let's use the
list to share such knowledge, regardless of faith, denomination or lack
thereof.
And I do second Bill East's suggestion re looking up the reference 'De
Profundis' in the *Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church* - very often a
useful first line of enquiry, indeed.
