Thanks Ilya. I am working on the cult of an early Benedictine saint,
Maurus of Glanfeuil. I did a search of the PL database and one
interesting item that came up was a mention in Hugo. In his Tractatus he
told a rather charming story involving fish imagery, the moral of which
was that the New Testament figure Cornelius should be taken as the model
of the secular man, St. Paul the model for intellectuals and Maurus,
owing to his humility and obedience, as the model for cloistered men. I
simply know nothing about the author or the work and was looking for
some background.
