Re- the NHS Alliance Regional Forum meetings - in response to David Young's
email - some clarification....
Each meeting will run as six parallel workshops - clinical governance,
health improvement, prescribing, organisational development as well as a
workshop to cater for Lay Members and for the early PCTs (00 and 01). Each
of these workshops will have 2 different sessions, hence each meeting will
have 12 different sessions to choose from, and that's a lot of speakers per
meeting. However, the list in the original email is a sample of the
presenters involved across all of the 7 meetings covering the 8 English
regions.
As regards the educational aims, the meetings are designed to provide a mix
of learning from national figures and also from colleagues within the
region. Therefore delegates will have the opportunity to gain insight from
national experts, as well as discuss, debate and hopefully shape policy
alongside them. In addition, they can learn from peers of successes and
failures at grassroots level, find out about valuable and relevant
resources, and help to form peer-group networks, all of which are features
of a meeting that our research demonstrated the PCG/T audience wanted. The
style of the meeting and the size of the workshops support this approach.
With respect, I'm not convinced you would achieve the same from reading a
newspaper, or even the medical press.
