It's primarily the statue of Mary with a crown of light bulbs that I
remember. Bars and bistros abound in France - no need to mingle with
huge crowds. It's just that I prefer the language of symbol to convey
the ineffable. Note that I'm discussing the aesthetics of religious
expression here, not religion as such.
