As Gilda Radner would say on Saturday Night Live, "Never mind". Upon further
enlargement of my negative of the "Kilfenora Four", I think the evidence is
firmly in the camp of John Hunt and the clerics' "protuberances" are, in
fact, "hands clasped in a devotional attitude in front of them". (My first
impression, upon seeing the figures high up on the window was of clerics
playing "leap frog" over other people/animals). But - at least - we have a
pretty good glimpse of the tonsure.
By the way, I'm sending a print of the negative to an actual
academically-qualified list member for a "second opinion". The original
medical diagnosis appears to have been in error.
