A practical workshop exploring the main areas of management relevant to
library and information work, with emphasis on managing the work of others.
How will this event help you?
It will help you to:
* idntify your strengths for team work and leadership and broaden your
understanding of group and team dynamics
* enhance your practical management skills - conflict management,
interpersonal skills
* share ideas and experiences with others at a similar level
All sessions require a high level of involvement and participation. You
will be asked to complete a questionnaire and to bring it with you to the
workshop.
Who should attend?
You need at least four years of post-qualification experience and to be in a
job which includes the management of other people's work. It is helpful to
have a attended the 'Introduction to Management Skills' workshop or have
participated in a programme recently that covered management skills,
including motivation.
Workshop leader: Sheila Ritchie is a consultant in the behavioural sciences
applied to work. A Chartered librarian, she works in the public and private
sectors in the UK and overseas, specialising in the development of
management skills.
