Dear Christina,
If your interest in foreigners supporting Italian Risorgimento includes
women, you might be interested in Margaret Fuller, American correspondent for
the the New York Daily Tribune in the years 1846-49. She was a fervent
supporter of Mazzini and in 1849 she took active part in the resistance of
the Roman Republic against the French army. An essay on Fuller is contained
in: Borghi, L.- Livi Bacci N. (eds.) Viaggio e scrittura - le straniere
nell'Italia dell' '800. Firenze: Libreria delle donne, 1988 (this has not
been translated in English, I'm afraid).
Her letters from Italy have been published separately or in collections of
her works (in English, of course).
Best regards
